Many people, even with great LinkedIn profiles, don’t feel comfortable sharing their views and opinions on LinkedIn and engaging with professionals from the industry. So, as a result, their profiles become dormant; they lack engagement and connections, and… become invisible to potential employers and recruiters.
Inactive LinkedIn users think that just mere presence on the platform is sufficient enough, and they don’t bother much with it until the time when they become active job seekers.
And then they are in for a big surprise.
Just being on LinkedIn is not enough for people to notice you. Why do I need people to notice me anyway, you will ask. I do my job, and that’s pretty much enough!
Why? In the modern gig-economy, it’s not quite enough to be good at what you do. You need to be heard and be seen. You need to know how to do your networking online and offline, channel your communication and promote your personal brand, skills and knowledge.
LinkedIn is your living resume, the one that you can update as many times as you wish and pitch, pitch, pitch.
